Ranger College Volleyball Sweeps Wrangler/Ranger Roundup Tournament

Ranger, Texas – The Ranger College volleyball team opened its 2025 season in dominant fashion this past weekend, sweeping all four matches at the annual Wrangler/Ranger Roundup Tournament held Friday and Saturday. The Rangers took down Cloud County Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Panola College, Dallas College Mountain View, starting the year with a 4-1 record.

Day One – Friday, August 22

  • Ranger 3, Cloud County 0
    The Rangers kicked off the tournament with a commanding sweep over Cloud County (25-12, 25-15, 25-12). Sophomore Etsel Ramirez led the charge with 13 kills on .556 hitting, while Prestyn Parish added 7 service aces and 5 kills.

  • Ranger 3, Coffeyville 0
    In the evening match, Ranger took down Coffeyville (25-11, 25-13, 25-20). Faith Sosa powered the offense with 8 kills, while Parish added 7 more kills and 3 aces. Setter Tarryn Allen dished out 15 assists, helping the Rangers secure their second sweep of the day.

Day Two – Saturday, August 23

  • Ranger 3, Panola 1
    The weekend closed with a statement victory over powerhouse Panola College, as Ranger pulled out a 4-set thriller (25-20, 25-14, 26-28, 25-23). Ramirez delivered 16 kills and 16 digs, while Sheppard added 12 kills. Allen distributed 25 assists, and Parish contributed 8 kills, 2 aces, and 15 digs in the hard-fought win.
  • Ranger 3, Dallas College Mountain View 0
    The Rangers continued their winning ways with a sweep of Dallas College Mountain View (25-21, 25-21, 25-10). Parish once again dominated with 11 kills, while Allen tallied 18 assists and 2 aces. Kymberly Sheppard chipped in 6 kills on .417 hitting.

"This weekend was a great start for us," said Head Coach Nicole Smith. "To see our players step up against strong competition and stay consistent across four matches shows the depth and potential of this group. I'm proud of the way they competed, and this sets a strong tone for the season."

The Lady Rangers next travel to Cheyenne, WY to play in a tournament, facing Laramie County Community College (August 28), Notheastern Junior College and Snow College (August 29), and Casper College (August 30).
