Rangers drop four game set to Clarendon
After dropping Game 2 of its four-game series against Clarendon College on Friday, Ranger came out on Saturday looking to capture Game 3 and get back in the win column. A pair of first-inning RBIs got RC off to the start they needed, but the Bulldogs scored two runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings on their way to a 6-4 victory.
Luis Vargas had a home run and two RBIs. Austin Tidwell and Nolan Gazouski each had a RBI.
Josh Hendrickson started and went 3 and 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out four.
Ranger entered the final game of the weekend looking for a series split, but five-run first inning by Clarendon put the Rangers behind an eight ball they could not get out in front of in an 18-6 loss.
The Bulldogs scored five runs again in the fourth and followed that up with four more in the sixth.
Alex Gutierrez had a double and 4-RBIs for the Rangers who had 10 hits as a team.
Gazouski suffered the loss. He allowed six runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
The Rangers are 9-9 on the season and host Western Texas College on Wednesday at noon and 2 p.m.
