Rangers comeback to earn split with Western Texas

In what is becoming a bad habit for Ranger, they fell behind Western Texas College 2-0 in the first inning of Game 2 of a Wednesday doubleheader. The Rangers woke up in the third inning when they scored a pair of runs to tie the game and scored six runs over the next two innings to build a lead that was too much for WTC to overcome in an 8-4 loss.

Andruid Martinez and Austin Tidwell each had a pair of RBIs. Cayde Williams had three hits in five trips to the plate.

Andrew Dean went 2 1/3 innings to earn the win. He allowed no runs on one hit and struck out three.

The bad habit of falling behind early was too much for Ranger to overcome in the opener. Western Texas put up three runs in the first inning and added to the lead with one in the fourth and three in the fifth on the way to a 7-2 win.

Luis Vargas had a hit and an RBI. Hagen Tucker didn't finish with a hit, but did drive in the Rangers other run.

Oscar Nogurera suffered the loss. He went 4 2/3 and allowed all seven runs and struck out five. Alaxander Flores did honorable work in mop up duty, he didn't allow a run and only gave up one hit.

Ranger is 10-10 on the season as they enter conference play. They do so Wednesday when they host Hill College for a doubleheader starting at noon.
