Ranger struggles against No. 5 Mclennan
Both Mclennan and Ranger got off to a fast start in Game 1 of a spring break doubleheader. Unfortunately for Ranger, the Highlanders stayed hot. The No. 5 ranked team in the country scored six runs in the fourth to break open the contest and take the opener 14-3.
Nolan Gazouski had a hit and drove in two. Ryan Dufrene added a RBI and had three base knocks. Cayde Williams also had three hits and he scored a run.
Josh Hendrickson suffered the loss. The lefty went 3 1/3 and allowed just three earned runs on six hits. Errors did in Hendrickson and the Rangers, MCC scored six unearned runs off the RC starter.
Game 2 went much the same way as the opener for Ranger. Mclennan scored 15 runs in the third through sixth innings to win the finale in seven innings, 16-0.
Rangers finished with five hits as a team but were unable to push across a run.
Amado Almanzar took the loss. He allowed six runs over four innings.
RC is now 11-15 on the season and will get a chance to redeem themselves Saturday when they travel to Waco to face Mclennan.
