Rangers pound out 20 runs in sweep of NCTC
After Ranger and North Central Texas combined for 47 runs in a pair of games on Wednesday, the two teams didn't stop scoring on Saturday. The difference on the weekend was the Rangers took both games to take the series with a pair of wins 10-7 and 10-9.
DECIDING MOMENTS
GAME 1: After Ranger scored five runs in the bottom of the third capped by a 3-run Luis Vargas home run to take the lead 6-3. NCTC answered back with a pair of runs in the fourth to sneak back to within one.
Ranger wasn't done scoring. RC started the bottom of the next inning with a single, walk single combination that loaded the bases for J.J. Avalos who tripled in three runs and gave Ranger a four-run lead. On third with one out, Sebastian Battle brought him home with a sacrifice fly to push the Ranger lead to 10-5.
GAME 2: Ryan Dufrene and Austin Tidwell both went deep to help Ranger take a 10-6 lead to the top of the ninth. Looking to avoid the sweep, NCTC came out and rallied, which started with a hit-by-pitch and error combo. Back-to-back singles brought the Lions to within 10-8, with one on and nobody out. Following a RBI groundout, Chris Logan struck out the next two batters to end the game.
