Leopards sneak past Ranger
Fresh off its series win over North Central, Ranger played host to Temple College on Wednesday looking to keep its winning streak going. It was a drastically lower scoring pair of games that took place on Saturday, but the Leopards scored enough to sneak past the Rangers winning both games by the scores of 6-4 and 7-2.
DECIDING MOMENTS
GAME 1: The final result was lower scoring, but the first inning of the opener looked like it was going to be more of the same. TC got off to a hot start without making much contact. The Leopards used an error and walk combo to take a 2-0 lead. A sacrifice fly made it 3-0 and another walk and single combo made it 4-0 Temple headed to the bottom of the first.
Ranger answered back with two outs in their half of the inning. Christian Sanjurjo got RC on the board with a RBI single. Luis Vargas followed with a 2-RBI base hit and Ranger was back within one but was never able to get any closer.
GAME 2: Temple held a 4-1 lead headed to the seventh and after a double play made it two outs and no one on, it looked like Ranger was going to come to plate still trailing by just three. The Leopards rallied sparked a rally with a single and walk, which allowed TC to score a pair of runs on back-to-back singles. Temple added a run before the third out was recorded to take a 7-1 lead.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
Vargas: 2 hits, 3 RBIs.
Sanjurjo: 2 hits, RBI.
Austin Stokes 4 hits.
Ryan Dufrene 3 hits.
