Rangers split opening series vs. North Lake
IRVING – Alex Garcia had about as good of a start to a season as you could have. He went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the season-opening win over North Lake College, 6-1.
As great as Garcia was at the dish, Amado Almanzar was just as dominate on the mound. He went 5 1/3 and allowed just one hit and one run and struck out four.
Ranger broke the game open with a 3-run sixth inning. RC led just 3-1 but tacked on three more insurance runs to put the game out of reach.
Caden Rosholt added a double and RBI.
GAME 2
Headed to the bottom of the fifth inning Ranger had just cut the Blazers lead in half to 2-1. North Lake responded by scoring four runs in the fifth to break the game open on the way to a 7-1 win.
Tucker Burton was the bright spot of the RC offense with his triple and RBI.
Blake Hoffman suffered some tough luck on the mound not allowing a hit, but allowed two runs, only one if which was earned in a loss.
Ranger is back in action Monday when they take on New Mexico Junior College at Abilene Christian University.
