Hawks swoop past RC in doubleheader
After nearly sweeping a doubleheader from the Howard earlier in the week, Ranger had its sights set on finishing the job when the two teams met again on Saturday. After four innings it looked like it was going to be another tight hard fought pair of games, however, everything changed in the fifth inning of Game 1. Howard broke open a 1-1 tie by scoring six runs in the inning and pretty much controlled the day from that point forward. HC went on to win the opener 7-2 and swept the double dip with a 13-3 victory in Game 2.
GAME 1
Ranger tried to answer back in the bottom of the fifth inning but had to settle for just one run on a Noah Winkleman RBI double. RC kept the Hawks off the board for the rest of the game, but they to were also kept from scoring.
GAME 2
Howard showed no mercy in the afternoon cap as they scored four runs in the first and three more in the second and there would be no Ranger that nearly knocked off the Hawks in Game 2 earlier in the week. HC added five more in the eighth before Ricky Rivera drove in two for RC, but it wasn't enough as the game was called after eight.
SCHEDULE SAYS
The forecast is a little dicey at this point, but Ranger is scheduled to play a pair of doubleheaders at Clarendon on Friday and Saturday.
