Rangers pick up second-straight win headed into conference play

Holding an 8-2 lead with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, it looked like Ranger was set up to run rule TCS Post Grad, however, the visitors managed to wiggle off the hook and had multiple chances to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth before Ricky Gerik came on for the 2-out save as Ranger won 8-6.

DECIDING MOMENTS

After failing to get the 10-run win, Ranger was cruising to a traditional win six-run victory, however, with one out TCS rallied with two singles sandwiched around a walk. That brought Joshua Gustafson to the dish with the bases loaded and he came through unloading them and cutting the RC lead to just two. Ranger went to the pen and brought on Gerik who induced a weak groundball for the second out and closed out the game with a little pop fly to right field.

BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE

Anthony Huggins had two hits, a double and three RBIs.

Alex Garcia had a pair of hits and RBIs.

Caden Rosholt and Tucker Burton each added an RBI.

SCHEDULE SAYS

Ranger opens conference play Wednesday when they travel to Weatherford. The Coyotes come into conference play with an 8-9 record. Ranger enters with an 8-6 mark.
