Weatherford outslugs Rangers
Offense was aplenty Saturday when Ranger played host to Weatherford. The two teams combined for 35 runs in a doubleheader, the problem for RC was the Coyotes scored 22 of those runs and swept the Rangers.
GAME 1
Leading just 5-3 headed to the sixth, Weatherford added a pair of runs to go up 7-3 and followed that same script in the seventh inning, which gave them a six-run cushion needing only three outs. WC didn't need all six runs, they held Ranger off the scoreboard and took Game 1, 9-2.
Kaleb Thompson had two hits, one of which was a triple and two RBIs.
GAME 2
The 12 runs scored in the opener was nothing compared to the scoring that took place in the second game. Weatherford led 9-7 headed to the eighth inning and the teams weren't done scoring. The inning started with a walk, double, single and error combo that scored two runs before an out was committed to make it 11-7. The inning continued with the help of a hit-by-pitch and base on balls that allowed the Coyotes to score two more runs.
Down by six, Ranger wasn't going to let WC just head home with the W. J.J. Padilla tripled in a run to cut the lead to 13-8 with nobody out. An RBI groundout followed by a Victor Bueno run-scoring double brought the Ranger to within 13-10, but they would get no closer and dropped the second game 13-10.
Alex Garcia had 2 RBIs.
Noah Winkleman, Anthony Huggins and Kyler Strode all had an RBI.
