Rangers have streak snapped, but still take season series from NCTC
GAINESVILLE -- Ranger took a road trip riding a six-game conference winning streak looking to push it to eight in a row with a sweep over North Central Texas College. The Lions ended the streak and nearly returned the favor on the Rangers if it weren't for a huge RC comeback.
GAME 1
NCTC took control of the opener with a 3-run third and fourth inning. In the third, the Lions used a home run, groundout and single combo to go up 4-0.
North Central started the fourth inning with back-to-back walks and capped the inning with a three-run home run.
Victor Bueno and Ricky Rivera both went deep for Ranger, but it wasn't enough to keep the winning streak alive in a 9-4 loss.
GAME 2
The Lions came out and it looked like they were going to run-rule the second game and sweep the series. Ranger had other ideas, down 10-3 going to the fourth, they rallied. Tucker Burton got the inning started with a solo home run and Rivera went deep, again, to cap a 5-run inning and brought the Rangers within 10-8.
Trailing by that same score in the sixth, RC let North Central do the work for them. Noah Winkleman followed up a Caden Rosholt RBI single with one of his own, which tied the game at 10-10. The scoring ended with the Lions third error of the frame, this one was a big one, a 3-run misplay helped Ranger post its second five-run inning of the day.
RC kept North Central off the scoreboard for the final six innings on the way to a 16-10 win.
