Bueno and Rivera back Dallas leading RC to the sweep
Playing its first non-conference game since March 5, Ranger played host to Western Texas College looking to get that winning feeling back. It looked like they were well on the way to recapturing that feeling, but had to hold on to win in walkoff fashion. Bo Dallas made sure the second game would not be as dramatic he shut down the Westerners and helped Ranger earn the sweep.
GAME 1
Tied at 7-7 in the seventh, Ranger had the winning run on base and one of its best hitters at the plate in Noah Winkleman. Winkleman would never take the bat off his shoulder an error by the first baseman on an attempted pickoff throw allowed Tucker Burton to cross the plate with the winning run, 8-7.
It went to the seventh tied after WTC scored four runs in the sixth on four singles and a pair of walks. The rally came after Ranger had seized control with a five-run fifth highlighted by a Ricky Rivera 3-run home run.
Victor Bueno added a double and an RBI.
Ricky Gerik picked up the win.
GAME 2
The story of the finale was the performance of Dallas. The lefty went the distance, seven innings, in this case, allowed just a single run on four hits while striking out 11 Westerners. He didn't need much help but he got it from Rivera who hit his second home run of the day and Daniel Goncalves and Bueno each had a pair of RBIs in the fourth inning as RC cruised to a 7-1 win.
Bueno added a double and another RBI to finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Alex Garcia matched that.
SCHEDULE SAYS
