Rebels defend their home field
HILLSBORO -- After a week away, it was back to conference play for Ranger with a trip to Hill College. RC had the go-ahead run on base with a chance to take the lead in the ninth inning of Game 2, Hill kept that run from crossing the plate to earn the sweep.
GAME 1
Hill opened the scoring in the bottom of the first and Ranger responded with a 2-RBI single from Daniel Goncalves and a 2-run double from Noah Winkleman to go up 4-3.
The Rebels used four singles to score five runs in the third inning, including two-straight with two outs. Ranger wouldn't get much closer and lost the opener 9-6.
Victor Bueno added a hit and 2RBIs.
GAME 2
Ranger had three outs to score three runs to extend the finale. Bueno and Ricky Rivera got to work putting two on with nobody out. A walk loaded the bases and Bueno scored on another walk to cut the lead to just 10-8. With the bases loaded and no out, Rivera was then thrown out at home on a fielders choice. The game ended with Ranger hitting into a double play and lost by those two runs.
Anthony Huggins had 3H/2RBIs.
