Ranger grabs 2 wins over Dodge City
Ranger College took two of their three games against Dodge City on Feb. 4-5.
Game 1 was a nail-biter with Ranger College recovering from an eight-run deficit going into the bottom of the fourth. It wasn't until Jhanel Bautista started RC off with a double to right field that the Rangers began to roll. E.J. Alanis kept the rally going, hitting a home run over the right field fence.
Ranger's defense then took the field and shut Dodge City down in the fifth and sixth innings.
Micah Ford led the pitching staff, facing 18 batters and only giving up four hits and one.
Ranger's offense did not let up. Jansel Jimenez tripled on a line drive, scoring Moorehouse in the bottom of the sixth. Gilberto Torres, Alinas, and Kade Wood continued to bat runners in. The last run to seal Ranger's faith was made by J.T. Thompson, who singled to center to score Kade Wood to give RC a 12-8 lead.
Game 2 ended with a walk-off by Joshua Comeaux giving Ranger an 11-10 win.
Gilberto Torres started the Ranger offense by hitting a line drive to centerfield. A.J. Alinas then blasted a home run over rightfield fence, scoring himself and Torres.
Torres, Bautista, E.J. Alinas, and Jaden Adams led the Rangers with multiple hits throughout the game.
Parker Bigham faced 23 batters and only gave up four hits. Michael Minaya gets the save for the Rangers shutting down Dodge City in the top of the Ninth.
Ranger College lost Game 3. Van Gupton, Jr. and Bautista tried to keep the offense alive. Van Gupton Jr went two-for-two, singling to the third baseman and doubling on a line drive to the fielder. Jhanel Bautista went two-for-three, singling on a hard ground ball to center field and a on single to short.
