Ranger Splits Baseball Doubleheader with Cisco

CISCO, Texas — Ranger College faced off in a baseball doubleheader against cross-county rival Cisco College on Wednesday May and came away with a split. 

Game 1 Recap:

Ranger opened the scoring  in the first inning on an RBI single by Andrew Perez, but Cisco answered in the second with three runs - two on an error and one on a single by Dae Palomo. Thomas Barnhart blasted a 3-run homer to left field putting Ranger in the lead. Ashton Fisher led the offense going 3-for-4 at the plate while Andrew Perez and Jayden Brown added multiple hits. 

Pitcher Landon Gutierrez earned the win, allowing three unearned runs over six innings with four strikeouts. Jack Nolan three a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

Game 2 Recap:

Cisco got on the board in the first inning with an RBI by Isaac Hertzog. They added to their score with six runs on six hits in the second inning when Andy Chapa singled, scoring two runs, Preston Freeman homered to right field, scoring three runs, then Ryan Alaniz hit a solo home run to center field. The Wranglers added to their lead in the third inning , scoring on a wild pitch and a single by Chapa scored another run. 

Pitcher Liam Thompson took the win for Cisco, surrendering three hits and no runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. 

Tui Amosa, Jayden Brown, and Jose Rodriguez each collected one hit for the Rangers, but it left the team short at the plate as Cisco took game two.
