Rangers run past Weatherford, 100-62

The Ranger College men's basketball team continued its impressive offensive surge on Monday afternoon by grinding out a 100-62 victory over the Weatherford College Coyotes in a key Northern Texas College Athletic Conference showdown. Playing in front of their home fans, Ranger reached the triple-digit plateau for the second tie in its past three outings with a 100-62 rout.

With the win, Ranger improved to 8-3 for the season. More importantly, the Rangers moved to 6-2 in conference play heading into the final month of the regular season.

After Weatherford had started the game with a quick flurry, the RC offense got into gear. Sparked by clutch shots from Keisei Tominaga, Jorell Saterfield and Starlin Hamilton, the RC men rallied from a 6-point deficit early in the frame to take a comfortable 59-halftime lead.

Saterfield scored 16 of his game-high 25 points in the first 20 minutes of the contest. Tominaga had 12 points in the first half, while Hamilton added nine, all via three-point bombs.

The Rangers, who have averaged 103 points per game over their last three contests. put the game away with its defense in the second half. RC outscored Weatherford by a 41-27 clip in the final frame.

Tominaga, who was named the NTJCAC Player of the Week, earlier in the day, finished the game with 18 points. Hamilton added nine more in the second half and finished with 17.

Nika Metskhvarishvili also reached double figures for the Rangers. He scored 10 points while handing out four assists.

Jordan Hayes also played well for RC. He chalked up seven points to go along with a game-leading 11 assists.

Ranger College will return to play on March 10 when they host Strength in Motion in the Ron Butler Gymnasium. The contest will begin at 7 p.m.
