Rangers face Barton CC in district play first round

Following a double-overtime win against Western Texas College, Ranger has now headed north to Topeka, Kansas to take on Barton Community College with the winner moving one step closer to the national tournament.

Sitting at 9-2, the Rangers will face the 14-5-1 Cougars at 4 p.m.

On paper, this should be a matchup of a powerful offense, Ranger who averages four goals a game, against the Cougars who are only allowing 1.22 goals a game.

Ranger has been led all season by Kyle Edwards who netted 21 goals this season, but what makes RC so dangerous is they have a number of guys who can score at any time. Nowhere was that more evident than in the Region V Championship Match, WTC focused all of its attention on Edwards putting multiple guys on him at a time and Azinho Solomon stepped up and scored a pair of goals including the game-winner that was set up by a great pass from Edwards.

Barton is led offensively by Colin Roemer who has scored 11 games this season.

Luciano Trasolini is the starting keeper for the Cougars and has allowed just 17 goals all season.
