RANGER, Texas — The Ranger College Lady Rangers softball team earned their first victory of the season with a 6-5 win over Western Nebraska Community College on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025. The Lady Rangers built a 6-run lead and held off the Cougars to secure the win, recording 12 hits.
Erica Baker played a key role, driving in four runs on three hits and stealing two bases. Marlie Strong, Alyssa Meza, and Arianna Meza each had multiple hits, while Kaylee Welch drew four walks.
The Lady Rangers' offense was backed by strong pitching from Laura Palomares, who threw four and two-thirds innings, and Mari Blood, who closed out the game with two and one-third innings of relief. The end of the game showed all smiles from players and coaches, hoping that this win will be the first of many more to come.
