Double the Fun, Double the Victory: Ranger College Softball Sweeps the Day!

RANGER, Texas — The Lady Rangers softball team swept the Hill College Lady Rebels in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 22.

Game 1 Recap Hill College scored first in the top of the first inning with an RBI single. Ranger College responded in the bottom of the inning as Arianna Meza grounded out and Alyssa Meza doubled down the right field line, each driving in a run.

The Lady Rangers extended their lead with a six-run third inning, highlighted by Amelia Meece's two-run home run to center field, Ealani Bosely's two-run double, and Marlie Strong's two-run single.

Starting pitcher Mari Blood allowed four hits and two runs, one earned, over three innings. Laura Palomares relieved Blood and allowed three runs. Ranger racked up 15 hits, with multiple hits contributed by Rachet Houston and Alyssa Meza. The Lady Rangers won 13-5.

Game 2 Recap Game 2 proved to be a back-and-forth contest. Hill College took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Ranger College responded in the bottom of the second with four runs. Erica Baker singled in one run, Emily Olivarez added another with a single, and Annastasia Autrey homered to right field, driving in two runs.

Hill College regained the lead in the top of the third with a four-run rally. However, Ranger fought back in the fourth, capitalizing on an error. Rachet Houston tripled to right field, Arianna Meza grounded out, and Samantha Templeton lined out, each driving in a run.

Alyssa Meza started on the mound, allowing 10 hits and six runs, while striking out four and walking three. Jada Moreno and Mari Blood pitched in relief. Amelia Meece and Anna Autrey each had two hits, while Templeton and Autrey drove in two runs apiece. Houston stole two of Ranger's four bases. The final score was 14-10, sealing Ranger's sweep.
