Ranger Women's Basketball Dominates Collin College in Home Conference Victory

RANGER, Texas — January 14, 2026 — The Ranger College women's basketball team continued its strong conference play Wednesday evening, earning a convincing 63–43 win over Collin County Community College at Ron Butler Gymnasium. The victory improves the Rangers to 2–1 in conference play and 7–10 overall.

Fast Start Sets the Tone

Ranger took control early, jumping out to a 16–8 first-quarter lead before extending the advantage to 37–18 at halftime. The Rangers' defensive pressure and rebounding dominance allowed them to dictate the tempo from the opening tip and never relinquish the lead.

Johnson Leads Balanced Scoring Effort

Imani Johnson paced the Rangers with a game-high 20 points, knocking down five three-pointers while adding six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Mia Ross followed with 12 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and contributing three assists.

Inside, Kayleigh Murphy anchored the paint with 13 rebounds and eight points, while Shamariah Gibbs provided a spark off the bench with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and five rebounds.

Defense and Rebounding Key to Win

Ranger held Collin to just 30.2% shooting from the field and limited the Cougars to one made three-pointer on the night. The Rangers also controlled the glass with a 42–25 rebounding advantage, helping to limit second-chance opportunities and fuel transition scoring.

Ranger College will continue conference play on Saturday, January 17, traveling to Waco, TX, to face McLennan Community College in another conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
