Bio

Coach Steven Gilbert enters his second season as Head Women's Basketball Coach at Ranger College, bringing experience from the junior college, NCAA Division I, high school, and AAU levels.

Prior to Ranger College, Gilbert served as video coordinator at Syracuse University during the 2023-24 season. The Orange finished 24-8, earned a spot in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll, advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32, and produced a WNBA Draft selection.

Before Syracuse, Gilbert was an assistant coach at Long Island University, where he served as co-defensive coordinator and worked extensively in recruiting, scouting, and player development. He also spent the 2021-22 season at Northwest Florida State College, helping guide the Raiders to a 27-3 record, a No. 1 national ranking, and the FCSAA State/NJCAA District Championship.

Gilbert's collegiate coaching experience also includes stops at Neosho County Community College and Colorado Northwestern Community College. In addition, he spent four years coaching at the high school level and worked with nationally recognized AAU program Showtime Hoops (1 Family).

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Gilbert was a standout player at Trinity Christian Academy before continuing his playing career at Webber International University. He earned a bachelor's degree in biological science from Florida State University and a master's degree in secondary education from Grand Canyon University.

Gilbert is committed to developing student-athletes on and off the court while building a culture of excellence within the Ranger College women's basketball program.
