Ranger College Volleyball Outlasts McLennan in Five-Set Thriller

WACO, Texas — September 24, 2025 — The Ranger College volleyball team battled through five grueling sets to secure a hard-fought 3–2 conference victory over McLennan Community College on Wednesday night.

Back-and-Forth Battle

Ranger opened strong with back-to-back set wins (25–21, 25–23) before McLennan answered to even the match with victories in sets three and four (25–23, 26–24). The decisive fifth set belonged to the Lady Rangers, who stormed out to an early lead and closed the match with a convincing 15–7 finish.

Offensive Leaders

Sophomore Etsel Ramirez led the way with 18 kills and added 11 digs and a service ace for 19 total points. Carlota Mora delivered a strong outing with 15 kills and 4 block assists, finishing with a team-high 17 points. At the net, Eunice Cervantes was a force with 13 kills on .370 hitting along with 6 block assists for 18 points. Kymberly Sheppard added 11 kills and 5 total blocks to fuel the Rangers' balanced attack.

Setting and Defense

The setting tandem of Tarryn Allen (30 assists, 13 digs, 1 ace) and Bailey Black (23 assists, 11 digs, 1 ace) combined for 61 assists to guide the Lady Rangers' offense. On the back row, Dafne Sosa anchored the defense with 15 digs, while Prestyn Parish chipped in 12 digs along with 2 service aces.

Looking Ahead

The victory keeps Ranger College near the top of the conference standings at 6-1 (11-6 overall). The Lady Rangers will look to extend their winning streak when they return home on Saturday, September 27, at 1:00 p.m. to host North Central Texas College in another key conference matchup.
