Ranger College Volleyball Sweeps Southwestern Christian to Bounce Back Strong
TERRELL, Texas — October 8, 2025 — Cominf off a tough loss to Hill College last Sarturday, the Ranger College Lady Rangers volleyball team rebounded in dominant fashion Wednesday night, sweeping Southwestern Christian College in straight sets (25–17, 25–13, 25–12). The victory improved the Lady Rangers' record to 9-2 in conference play and 14-7 overall.
Dominant Team Effort
The Lady Rangers controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an impressive .368 as a team while holding Southwestern Christian to zero kills on the night. Ranger's balance on offense and defense allowed them to close out each set comfortably.
Offensive Leaders
Sophomore Kymberly Sheppard led the way with a match-high 13 kills on an incredible .667 hitting percentage, while Eunice Cervantes added 9 kills and 3 block assists for 12.5 points. Carlota Mora chipped in 5 kills and 3 block assists, and Prestyn Parish added 4 kills on .222 hitting.
Setting and Serving
The offense was well-orchestrated by Bailey Black, who tallied 21 assists and 2 service aces. Tarryn Allen contributed 6 assists and an ace, while Dafne Sosa served 3 aces and anchored the back row with 7 digs. As a team, the Lady Rangers totaled 12 service aces and 8 block assists.
Coach's Take
"Our team responded exactly how we wanted after last weekend's loss," said head coach Nicole Smith. "They came out focused, executed well, and kept the pressure on from start to finish. This was a complete team win."
Looking Ahead
With the win, Ranger College moves to 9-2 in conference play (14-7 overall) and remains among the top teams in the league standings. The Lady Rangers will return home on Saturday October 11 for their next conference matchup against Weatherford College as they continue their push toward postseason play.
