Ranger College Women’s Cross Country Takes Fourth at Region V Championships
HOBBS, New Mexico — October 25, 2025 — The Ranger College women's cross country team turned in a strong performance at the NJCAA Region V Championships, placing fourth overall in a competitive field hosted by New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Rangers were led by freshman standout Elizabeth Nakito, who finished third individually with another school-record-level performance.
Nakito Leads the Charge
Nakito continued her impressive freshman season with a third-place finish in 17:36.4, the fastest 5K ever run by a Ranger College athlete at a regional meet. Her podium finish anchored a deep and balanced team effort that kept the Lady Rangers among the top programs in the region.

Behind Nakito, Ranger's lineup packed tightly to secure the fourth-place team result:
- Freshman Victaline Mutai — 9th place, 18:25.7
- Sophomore Macie Morales — 14th place, 19:08.3
- Sophomore Alyssa Mabry — 23rd place, 19:50.6
- Sophomore Julia Perez — 25th place, 20:12.8
All five scorers finished inside the top 25, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness against several nationally ranked programs.

With their fourth-place finish, the Lady Rangers secured qualification for the NJCAA National Championships, which will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
