Ranger College Men’s Basketball Earns First Win of the Season in Home Opener

RANGER, Texas — November 8, 2025 — The Ranger College men's basketball team delivered a complete performance in their home opener, defeating the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen 93–85 at Ron Butler Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the Rangers' first victory of the season, improving their record to 1–2 overall heading into Monday night's home matchup with Loyalty College Prep at 7:00 p.m.

Rangers Start Fast and Finish Strong

Ranger came out sharp on both ends, building a 43–30 halftime lead behind hot perimeter shooting and efficient ball movement. Despite a late push from Frank Phillips, the Rangers maintained control in the second half to secure the win.

Offensive Leaders

Freshman guard Cam Brown paced the Rangers with a game-high 22 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding three steals and a block. Sophomore wing Mafatime Ndiaye poured in 20 points, connecting on five of ten shots from beyond the arc, giving Ranger a consistent perimeter threat. Off the bench, Jaylen Drane added 11 points and three assists, while Devin Whitten matched him with 11 points, including three triples.

Inside Presence and Team Depth

Dave Meriwether was a force in the paint, recording 10 points and eight rebounds, while Jalen Hooks added eight points and six boards. Ranger's depth proved key, as nine players contributed points in the balanced attack.

Team Efficiency

The Rangers shot 44.3% from the field and 41.9% from three-point range, while dishing out 22 assists on 31 made baskets. The defense tallied 14 steals, helping create transition opportunities that kept the Plainsmen on their heels all afternoon.
