Ranger Men Fall 68–50 in Road Conference Test
WACO, Texas — January 17, 2026 — The Ranger College men's basketball team dropped a conference road matchup Saturday afternoon, falling 68–50 to McLennan Community College at the Highlander Athletic Center. Ranger trailed 35–30 at halftime, but McLennan pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Rangers 33–20 to secure the win.
Brown Leads the Rangers
Cam Brown paced Ranger with 17 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field while adding four rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes of action.
Mafatime Ndiaye followed with 11 points, knocking down two three-pointers and grabbing six rebounds.
Effort on the Glass
Dave Meriwether led Ranger on the boards with eight rebounds and added five assists, while Jalen Hooks contributed five rebounds, four points, and two steals. Ranger finished with 31 total rebounds against a strong McLennan frontcourt.
Shooting and Turnovers
The Rangers shot 45.5% from the field, but struggled from the free-throw line (6-for-11) and committed 24 turnovers, which McLennan converted into key second-half points. McLennan also held a 45–31 rebounding advantage, helping control the tempo down the stretch. Despite the result, Ranger competed throughout and showed flashes of balance on both ends of the floor against one of the league's tougher conference opponents.
