Rangers Secure Region V Tournament Berth with 66–61 Win at Weatherford
WEATHERFORD, Texas — March 4, 2026 — Ranger College men's basketball clinched a spot in the NJCAA Region V Men's Basketball Championships with a hard-fought 66–61 road victory over Weatherford College Wednesday night. The win secures the No. 4 seed for the Rangers in the Region V Tournament, which will be held March 12–14 in Odessa, Texas.
Ranger built an early advantage, taking a 35–24 lead into halftime, then held off a second-half push from the Coyotes to seal the five-point win.
Cam Brown led the Rangers with 25 points, converting 11-of-15 free throws while adding five rebounds and four assists. Jalen Hooks contributed a strong all-around performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Mafatime Ndiaye added 10 points.
Ranger also received key contributions from Devin Whitten and Gavin Headings, who each scored seven points, while Dave Meriwether added four points and three rebounds off the bench.
The Rangers used strong rebounding and timely defense down the stretch to preserve the victory and secure their postseason position. With the win, Ranger now turns its attention to its last home and regular season conference game against Hill College on Saturday March 7, 2026, then to the NJCAA Region V Tournament in Odessa, where the team will compete for a chance to advance to the national tournament.
